"Elizabeth R. Betsy was kidnapped as a baby to be a harvest sacrifice for southern utah hill people. As dictated by their religion she was kept locked away but she managed to score a copy of karate kid and some way to watch it, using her wit. Using this VHS she taught herself kung-fu before rampaging through the colony to freedom. So she has some catching up to do in the film world but had a better start then some." - RevTerry

I’m not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to movies. I’m a stranger. I don’t know much about the technical aspects of what makes a movie great and I’ve missed a lot of the “classics” in the last 25 or so years, but I’m on a quest to make up for lost time. I don’t yet have a favorite movie/genre/writer/director. I’m trying to experience as many things as possible so I can find what best fits my interests, and I’m patient enough to sit through (almost) the worst of movies to see if the end justifies the means.

As far as reviews go, I don’t know what points I’m supposed to hit. In many cases, I’m seeing these things for the first time and without the influence of previous works that inspired the current one. I think it’s the responsibility of those involved in a creation to speak in a language that their audience can understand. If they choose to rely on a language that only those deeply rooted in the production culture can understand, I’m likely to miss a great deal of what more skilled individuals will see, but sometimes it’s fun to see things from a new perspective and that where I come in. I love movies and I’m determined to catch up with the rest of you, one neglected chore at a time.

Note: Despite recognizing their value, I don’t have any personal social media accounts because that’s what makes me happy. If you would like to contact me you can leave a comment on the blog or email me at elizabethrbetsy@videoreligion.net but don’t feel bad if you don’t get a response immediately - I spend way too many hours at my job.
